Insurance Glass Claims

Tsawwassen Collision operates a fully equipped autoglass shop with provincially certified glass technicians. ICBC Express Glass Accreditation allows us to do most ICBC glass claims through direct on-line authorization. Glass claims will usually qualify for express service if there is no damage other than glass and the entire process can be handled by Tsawwassen Collision without prior ICBC contact.

We are also able to process claims with all private insurance companies.

Windshield Chip Repair

Small chips in the windshield can sometimes be repaired. The purpose of the repair is to prevent the chip from spreading and while the damage is less apparent after the repair it is not an invisible repair. The cost of repair is $45 for the first chip and $10 each for the second and third. If there are more than three chips the windshield is probably due for replacement. ICBC no longer pays for chip repair, while some of the private companies do.

Glass Replacement

Windshield replacement prices vary greatly from vehicle to vehicle. A broad range for windshield replacement cost is from $400 to over $1,000, and in most cases windshield replacements are dealt with under comprehensive insurance coverage from ICBC or private insurance companies. Deductibles with ICBC are most often $200 for windshields. Private companies have deductibles of $100 to $300.

Side windows and backglass replacement have $300 ICBC deductibles and in some cases the replacement cost is less than the policy deductible. The backglass is usually more expensive than the windshield.
